Hello All,

Hope you are having a good day so far...

I have a 120Megabyte AVI Video File, and I am just curious if there a way to make it where people can start viewing the file and downloading the rest at the same time.

I have a regular web hosting account with no special streaming tools on it. I have access to PHP/MySql/CGI, but I need to find a way to stream this file.

I know I can use a m3u to download/listen a mp3 at the same time.,

I perfer AVI Files since almost all computers - Windows, Linux, BSD, etc can play it without any downloading of extra software.

Please help

And by the way the file is

Thank you for your time.

Since you want it to be cross-platform and AVI, it is generally a function of the program on the client browser. I know of no way to actually stream AVI video; Windows Media Player (among others) will allow people to start playing files that have not finished downloading, but that is not the same as streaming. If you want true streaming video, you have to use something like Real Video (IMO, Real products should be avoided like the plague). That requires the end-user to have the Real(ONE) player installed on their PCs, but many people will refuse to do so.

Hello,

We are a start up company building a software that includes video streaming/conferencing. We are looking for an engineer to build the video streaming/conferencing with our group of programmers.

What scares me is that it's such a large file. Even with DSL it'll take quite awhile to download a 120mb video file, streaming or not.
