I am new to this game - I have a question what is the best way to ensure the right size web page appears in the browser window. Is there a way to resize pages according to browser window size and screen resolution .
Hi,
I also would like to know about the window size screen. Which would be the best size to view when we first open the page?

The Recommended size to set up a page at is 760 x 420 Pixels at 72dpi (Dots per Inch) this can be viewed at screen resolution 800 x 600 or above.
Nobody really bothers with 640 x 480 screen resolution anymore so it's pointless doing it any lower res.

I generally set my design up using percentages
So i know it will look similar on any resolution.
Alternativly you can use the base 800X600 template so that it looks the same to all users no matter the reseultion.
I hate sites that dont take resolution into a factor, and have huge images and mangled tables on their pages.
The best method I have seen is using a set sized image for spacing out tables and cells, mixed with percentage based tables.
I see this mainly on php driven sites with very complex table layouts.
If you are looking to detect browser resolution and change your table sizes based on that or even redirecting a user to a different layout best bet would be to use javascript for it.
As there are tons of scripts on the net that have code samples for just that and probably better support compaired to other languages.
